Raymond Zarpanélian, français d'origine arménienne est né à Paris. Joueur puis entraîneur, il s'est forgé une solide réputation de boute-en-train car il estime qu'il n'y a de sport sans rigolade, tout en étant sérieux et être avant tout un humaniste.

Après une formation à l'Institut National des Sports et d'Éducation Physique sous la Direction de Joseph Mercier instructeur, il obtient son monitorat de football en 1962.

Très vite, on lui confie le poste d'entraîneur-joueur dans l'équipe où il évoluait comme défenseur.

Si sa carrière de joueur est exclusivement française et assez modeste en terme de palmarès, sa carrière d'entraîneur par contre qui l'appellera en Afrique et au Moyen Orient, avait démarré sur les routes de France et de Navarre pour entamer des réussites ainsi que des succès mérités.

C'est au Stade Français qu'il devient Directeur Sportif de l'équipe Première qui évoluait dans le championnat de France de Seconde Division.

Sa fonction de Conseiller Technique l'amène auprès de la Fédération Ougandaise de Football et de la CECAFA, dans le cadre du Challenge Cup Kampala.

Actuellement, il est membre de la Commission « Francophonie de l’AFSVFP » sous l’égide du Comité National Olympique et Sportif Français qui lutte contre la violence et Président de l'Amicale des Éducateurs de Football de la Seine-Saint-Denis.

He is also the first French-speaking trainer has to have directed an anglophone team on the African continent.

It is at Stade Français that he becomes Sporting Director of the team First which evolved/moved in the championship of France of the Second Division.

Its function of Adviser Technical brings it near the Ugandan Federation of Football and the CECAFA, within the framework of the Challenge Cup Kampala.

Currently, he is Member of the Commission "Francophonie of the AFSVFP" under the aegis of the Olympic and Sporting Committee National French which fights against violence and President of Friendly of the Teachers of Football in the Seine-Saint-Denis.
